P.9 Catalyse invesment and innovation wichh will underpin sustained growth and give rise to new economic oppertunities PROTECTED FOREST AS A SOURCE OF ENERGY The Forestry and Environmental Research, Development and Innovation Agency (FOERDIA) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry hosted a media trip on Thursday, April 19, 2018, attended by representatives of the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas), provincial government, district government, related government offices as well as media partners and GGGI as a development partner, to showcase results of Micro Hydro Power Plant (MHP) projects in four villages in the area of Lampobattang Forest, Bulukumba District, South Sulawesi. The MHPs were developed by the technical implementation unit of FOERDIA, namely the Center for Environmental and Forestry Research and Development (CEFRD) Makassar. Why we do it The ambitious social and economic goals are expressed in the National Medium-term Development Plan (RPJMN 2015-2019) with priorities in economic growth, food and energy security, poverty reduction, and natural resource management. The Green Growth Program continues putting serious efforts in ensuring the RPJMN reflects greener growth and greener progress. These priorities reflect the nation’s urgent development needs as well as Indonesia’s international commitments to realize its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
